The Cedar Lounge Revolution

The first Saturday after May Day sees the ICTU march in Belfast, so I thought I’d put the above poster and the following statement up today.

1st May 2012

The Workers’ Party of Ireland, on the occasion of May Day, extends its best wishes to workers and their families and sends comradely greetings to the Communist and Workers’ Parties and democratic and progressive movements throughout the world on international workers’ day which commemorates the historic struggles of working people, proclaims the power of workers and provides an opportunity to workers to publically protest their indignation at capitalist exploitation and to assert the unity of the working class.

The austerity measures and the conditions imposed in Ireland through the power of the IMF/ECB/EU threaten not only the welfare and livelihood of Irish workers but pose a real danger to democracy, national and economic sovereignty and independence. The current crisis in capitalism…
