The Cedar Lounge Revolution

Ten Years ago today the country voted Bertie and the PDs back in. A number of constituencies (Meath, Dublin North and Dublin West) used electronic voting .
The Fianna Fail slogan of “A lot done, more to do” will go down as one of the most memorable ever. Fianna Fail were all set for an overall majority and were partly deflected in that ambition by the Progressive Democrats “One Party Government No Thanks” campaign. Fianna Fail ended up with a gain of four seats on Eighty One seats , just shy of an overall majority.
In contrast to Fianna Fail, Michael Noonan led Fine Gael had a woeful slogan in “Vision with purpose” and an even worse campaign ending up promising all sorts including compensating Taxi drivers for the value of their plates.
