Mogul says News Corporation is ‘firmly committed’ to ownership of its government ministers including Cameron, Osborne and Hunt

Rupert Murdoch has denied reports that News Corp is considering spinning off its British government ministers to protect the rest of his media empire from criminal scandals.

In a report today, the Financial Times newspaper said executives at the company were looking into ways to split off the UK Prime Minister, the Chancellor and the Culture Secretary – all fully owned by Rupert Murdoch’s News Corporation – from other more profitable parts of the international media conglomerate.

However, Murdoch, the chief executive of News Corp, said in a statement:

News Corporation remains firmly committed to continuing ownership of its UK ministers, and any suggestions to the contrary are wholly inaccurate. Owning politicians is a core component of our present and future business strategy.
