Mind you it didn’t take any clairvoyance or the deductive powers of Sherlock Holmes to predict in September 2008 that Manchester City would buy the English Premiership.

Leaving the big bucks issue aside for a moment, yesterday’s events were just as about as dramatic and exciting as it is possible for football to get.

When Manchester United finished their game at Sunderland with a 1-0 victory they were champions elect. However two goals from Manchester City in their match against QPR in the 2nd and 4th minutes of injury time meant that the flag flew across Manchester for City’s first top league triumph since 1968 and only the third in their history.
